Report: PM says Estonia to ban work of Yandex.Taxi from Apr 11

HELSINKI, Apr 1 (PRIME) -- The Estonian government has decided to ban the work of Russian taxi hailing service Yandex.Taxi in the country from April 11, Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said late on Thursday in a broadcast of Estonian TV and radio portal ERR.

The move signals to all the firms working with Russia’s special services that they have no place in Estonia, Kallas said, adding that the country suggested that the E.U. slap sanctions on Yandex.Taxi.

The measures against Yandex.Taxi are necessary to protect Estonia’s security, she said and attributed the ban to a recent ruling of Moscow that Yandex.Taxi must share personal data of its clients with Russia’s special services.

Yandex.Taxi came to the Estonian market in May 2018.
